Private Hand-building Workshop
Private hand-building workshops offer an excellent and accessible way to get muddy for groups of 4-8 people. For larger groups of 8+ there may be an option to build some smaller pinch pots or to paint/carve/decorate pre-made pieces by an artist at MUD.
With hand-building, beginners are able to make larger pieces than they otherwise would be able to on the wheel. Though often more organic looking in nature, this is something to celebrate - the charm of a piece shaped by your very own hands.
This workshop is a great option for staff parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, birthdays, family gatherings, anniversaries, or just for fun to connect with your people in a unique and creative way!
Workshops are typically 2.5-hours long, and are booked according to your group's preference and our instructor's availability. Booking at least 3 weeks in advance is recommended but not necessary. The lesson price includes clay and use of all tools, trimming/finishing work by our staff, kiln firings, and glazes. Pick one project to work on as a group, with several options to choose from such as mugs, planters/vases, ramen bowls, pet bowls, butter dishes, candle holders, travelo tumblers, etc. If you have a specific project in mind, let us know and we will see what we can do!
Your group will get a demo, hands-on instruction, and guidance throughout.
No experience necessary. Students will learn hand-building techniques and will have time to decorate each piece however you like. Our lovely instructors will guide your group through each step, focusing on the basics. Pieces will be carefully dried, trimmed, fired (twice), and glazed after the workshop by MUD staff.
Choose from a wide variety (25+) of glaze colours to finish your piece(s).
BYOB, if you'd like! We have a fridge and cups.
